I love Nicole Richie’s effortless style. Here is a great example of how she takes easy, comfortable pieces and puts a rock n roll spin on them.

How great is this look for a little dude? Anthony Kiedis looks pulled together and handsome as ever in a black blazer paired with a tee-shirt and sneakers.

Think Big!

This weeks think big is all about the tiered tutu skirt. We have a gorgeous pale grey tutu made of tulle in the shop and I am obsessed with it. Tutus can be very over the top but this particular tutu, created by wovenplay, is subtle. Styling a tiered skirt can be a lot of fun. I encourage you to play around with it. It can be sugary sweet or tough chic! The possibilities are endless.

Chloe Sevigny is always super cool. Here she sports a black tutu with a geometric top. She keeps the look grounded with masculine boots and opaque black tights. We paired our look with leggings to keep the little one comfy.

Reece Witherspoon does a great job of taking a tutu skirt and making it casual. This look is perfect for a trip to the park! We paired the skirt with a straw fedora, charm necklace, and simple tank.

Miley Cyrus is wearing her tutu like a modern day princess. I love the use of accessories to make this outfit pop. What little girl doesn’t love piling on necklaces? This is a great outfit for an early evening wedding or formal event.

That’s all for think Big today. I hope you enjoyed! I want to thank everyone who participated in our sale (more on that HERE) and let you know that the sale will be open for your shopping pleasure for a few more days. It’s 60% off online and 75% in store. If you are in the Boston area and can stop in you should know we have much more available here in Stel’s than online and I added some more lovely goodies to the floor just a couple of days ago. Yay!

This week for “Think Big” we focused on THESE adorable blue denim jeans for boys. Created by the line Surface To Air, they are great alternative to the classic jean with their bold, fun color and red detailing.

Below, hip hop super star Usher pairs his blue jeans with a clean white sneaker and a simple graffic tee.

Acclaimed actor, Justin Chatwin sports bright blue pants with a cuff in GQ. This look is relaxed but still a bit formal. Perfect for a night where the kiddos need to dress up a bit. We love the mix of gingham with such a bright color, perfect for your dapper little darling!

Jeans. Shirt. Shoe.

Little Wayne wore bright blue denim during a performance for MTV. He paired them with a studded belt, simple white tee, and scarf. Little Wayne is great at infusing his hip hop look with a bit off rock n rock, as evident in the belt choice.

This week for our “Think Big” we decided to show off the Opus “Harem Pant”. Harem Pants are great because they are roomy and comfy, making them a good choice for the always on the go kiddo. They are a fantastic alternative to a legging or sweat pant if you are looking to shake things up a bit!

We are absolutely loving the brand, Opus. Their modern, sharp lines contrast with pretty florals and supple fabrics to create an amazing juxtaposition of hard and soft. It is equal parts sugar and spice. We love a line that retains a childlike sweetness with a more hip, urban feel. This is exactly what Opus accomplishes.

Here is the stunning, Aussie, pop singer, Kylie Minogue. She is wearing bright harem pants, gladiators, and a simple white tee. We recreated the look and added a sweet Atsuyo et Akiko necklace and lovely, little leopard print sandals.

Sienna Miller is incredibly chic and effortless. We love the simplicity of what Sienna has done with her harem pants and how she added the pop of color on her feet. This is so easy to achieve yet it looks like a million bucks!

Tank.  Scarf.  Harem Pant.  Flats.

There really isn’t a girl cooler than Gwen Stefani. We love her unapologetic individuality and edgy style. Gwen can take any trend and make it her own. Our favorite part of this ensemble is that you could dissect it and wear each of these pieces with so many other things!

Welcome to Think Big! Where we here at Monkey & The Bug show you how to translate some of our favorite fashionista’s looks into  wearable outfits for your little one. Today we are showing off THIS adorable stripped boat neck top by Nico Nico.

How cute is Taylor Swift in her boat neck top? She embodies the all American girl and this look is comfy but not frumpy. Perfect for a play date at the park!

It’s no wonder that Rachel Bilson is featured on just about every style blog out there! Her style is effortless and very cool.

We love what she did with her stripped tee, pairing it with a classic trench and skinny jean.

Olivia Palermo has a knack for taking casual pieces and glamming them up. Here, she rocks her short sleeve stripped tee with shiny shoes and a girlie girl skirt.

This look carries over perfectly for a little girl. It’s casual enough for Sunday brunch with the fam and fancy enough for a tea party with her friends.

Sunglasses. Top. Oxfords. Skirt.

“It” girl Alexa Chung always puts her stamp on an outfit. This look is super simple but she still manages to make it her own by layering bold statement necklaces.
